About Me
Annie Lin, LCSW #129641
(she/her/s)
Hi there! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in San Diego, CA, and I offer individual therapy services via telehealth.

I obtained my B.S. in Public Health from UC San Diego and my Master of Social Work from CSU San Marcos. I've worked with clients of all ages, from elementary school students to adults, but I particularly enjoy working with undergraduate/graduate students and young professionals who are juggling life transitions, family and relationships, work/school, and the constantly changing world around us. I previously spent several years working at an university serving students from historically marginalized communities, including BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ and first-generation students.

Some of my other specialties include working with depression, anxiety, trauma stabilization, adult ADHD, and identity development & value-based work. I'm very passionate about promoting awareness of mental health among Asian-Americans and 2nd-generation immigrant communities and helping dispel some of the stigma surrounding discussing mental health or seeking help.
It's everyone's first time being a human in this world, and it's tough out here! I love being able to work with clients on creating a life they want for themselves.

My Style
My style in sessions is warm, validating with a touch of humor. I try my best to create a warm, trauma-informed environment for each client where they can feel authentically themselves, without judgment. All feelings are welcome in session with me - laughter, tears, dark humor, you name it! The aim of our work together is to build on the strengths and supports you already have and adding new tools to your toolkit of skills you can use to improve your well-being.
We're in this together!

My Approach to Therapy

You’re the captain of this ship! You decide what your goals for our work together is, and we’ll be able to co-create a plan together that fits your needs since everyone is different, and what works for one person might not work for someone else.
Nearly all of us have experienced some sort of traumatic event in our lives, many of us several of them. Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and care so that they aren’t retraumatized while trying to heal. It’s also about giving back your power to make your own decisions and engage in your unique healing process at your own pace. Sometimes we aren’t ready to take a deep dive into trauma processing, and that’s okay!

Sessions are a judgment-free zone. Share as little or as much as you’d like with me! There is no pressure to show up a certain way other than how you’re currently feeling.
Your mental well-being is heavily intertwined with all aspects of your life, including your physical health, social life, and basic needs like housing/food security. We have to make sure you have enough support in all those areas to promote well-being.

Everyone’s cultural identity and upbringing impacts them differently. I want to learn about yours and how it’s shaped you. We’re also never alone on this journey - how can we help you feel more connected?
Modalities I utilize
I use what's known as an eclectic approach, which essentially combines skills and techniques from a bunch of different evidence-based treatment modalities. Again, each person is different, and I utilize different combinations of techniques depending on the needs and desires of the client.

Some of these modalities use what's known as a top-down approach, which focuses on our thought patterns and behaviors, while others take a bottom-to-top approach, which focuses on starting with how our bodies react to stress and trauma.
